It was really hard to finish this book! :-(I loved her book "Kiss an angel", so, I thought I would be pleased with another great story. But I was really wrong... :-/
I couldn't find anything pleasant in the main female character, Honey Moon... She is so, so, so annoying! And the relationship between her and "her Daddy"... oh, my gosh... it tasted so badly. No way!

Honey Moon Susan Elizabeth Phillips 9780671735937 Books Reviews
Even though this is not your typical romance, most readers will really enjoy it. It is the story of Honey Moon, a young girl from a rough background who rather accidentally finds herself the star of a TV show. The romance in the book is generally pretty good, but the more interesting part of the book is Honey's growth from a tough, unloved girl, to an emotionally dependent wife, to an independent and fully mature woman. As usual, Susan Elizabeth Phillips is adept at adding touches of humor and creating interesting, multi-dimensional characters. It's a good read. Nevertheless, if you're reading it just for the romance, you will find it only marginally satisfying.
I rarely cry over a book or a movie, but I did over 'Honey Moon.' She's not always likable, but something about Honey touched a chord, and I found myself rooting for her to succeed and find happiness. I am not a fan of a big age gap between the main characters, but in this case, it worked. The changing feelings between Dash and Honey were well-handled and the subsequent tragedy all the more so heartbreaking. I also didn't know how the Eric angle was going to play out and was pleased at the direction Ms. Phillips took. Loved it.
This is a book from one of my favorite authors, thought I would give it a read. I like the way she writes.
Every time I read Susan Elizabeth Phillips books I get something new from them. This is the second time I read this book and because of situations in my life, this book has a new meaning for me.
Some of my other SEP favorites were "Ain't She Sweet", "Hot Shot", 'Glitter Baby", and "Just Imagine". The "Chicago Stars Series" were fun reads but got old for me after reading the first two. I like quirky characters and unique settings with long complex (somewhat unusual) story lines. That's what makes them interesting and special. So far, I've enjoyed SEPs lower rated books much more than the ones with higher ratings.
There are two heroes in this book, and both of them will haunt you for years to come. Two men with completely different personalities, but each with compelling emotional depth. And both are *equally* heroic. Anyone who writes fiction must know how difficult this is to accomplish with one hero, let alone two. But S.E.P does it well!
I fell in love with them, cried with them, laughed with them and I feel like I've been on an emotional rollercoaster. Dash Coogan and Eric Dillon were more than remarkable.
The blurb on the back of the book sums them both up so well "Dash Coogan ... the last of the movies' cowboy heroes, trapped on a screen too small to contain a legend. Eric Dillon ... Hollywood's bad boy, whose dark, seductive appeal and blazing talent hid a painful secret that has scarred his soul."
And the title character ... well, what can I say? She was simply extraordinary. Watching her grow from a child into a woman was a sight to behold, something that's also hard to pull off in fiction. But, S.E.P. does it with sensitivity and flair.
It's a rare book that can make me cry, and cry I did. Thank you S.E.P. for giving me such a rewarding read.
Most of Susan Elizabeth Phillips books are very up beat making them a fun read. I have read many of them in paperback, now I'm re-reading them on . She paints pictures with her words. Again, these are fun reads. The Chicago Stars Series of books are my favorites. This book was a little sad, but the ending pulled everything together nicely. But, I miss Dash, the "old" cowboy/actor.
